snowman Posts count: 159 | Ok, So the big thing I didnt like about RO1 was the lack of quests! I know most quests are just another form of grinding, but without them I just get the feeling of being lost, having no real sense of direction! I LOVE that RO2 is so much more quest orientated. I completed LOADS of quests last night, once I had sussed out the general pattern that is ;) The rewards for quests are really well worth it! they give you lots of equips! if you buy equips they are quiet expensive, and quite limiting. I have picked up rings, capes, backpacks and all manner of stuff which really helps! So, how do to do all these quests? I must admit I was quite confused to begin with. All the below assumes you have the english translation patch. FIRST THING YOU MUST REMEMBER! You can only take ONE quest of a certain TYPE at a time: Official Quest Personal Quest Scenario Quest The only thing I have not yet figured out is the 'Scenario Quest' I suspect this may have been a quest to complete in the VERY start!.. which most people skip. Tonight I plan to abandon that, go back to the start island and see if there are anymore 'scenario quests' Otherwise it might be a much more long term quest. Any info on this appreciated. I reccomend just doing them one at a time! until your more comfortable and can take a Personal AND Official quest at the same time. Once you have your quest they can all (so far) be split into TWO types! 1] Talking to people 2] killing stuff! [Talking Quests] If you look at the top left and DONT see a number count, like, [ 0 , 2 ] then its a TALKING quest! Press 'M' to call up the map, usually the person you need to speak to is a SOLID RED DOT! (the rest are small red circles) When you approach the person in question they will probably have a big golden chat symbol above their head. sometimes they dont however, so speak to them regardless. Also, sometimes you may notice two or even three DOTS. this is either a bug, or you have several people to speak to. Visit them all. Sometimes speaking to that person will finish the quest : you will see FINISH appear as a button. Very often though they will want you to speak to someone else... follow through until its definatly finished! Be carefull - When you 'Finish' a quest, very often immediatly after there is a follow up quest! dont go running off.. chat with them again. [Killing Stuff] So how do you know what mobs to kill to get the drop? or the kill? Its really quite simple. On the 'Adventurers Island' there are only two or three kinds of mobs, just keep killing, you will soon find out. Usually there is a quest to KILL said mob, and another quest to collect DROPS from said mob. yes, its very hard at the moment because the mobs are camped! just find a (relativly) quiet spot and wait. mobs WILL spawn, there is no need to go chasing the mobs. if you chase, then you end up spending MORE time chasing than killing. so to increase your kill rate (and thus your quest completion rate) Patience is your friend! The Koreans are nice people, if they see a mob spawn near you, its yours. fair game! there is NO NEED to race! Now, there is one interesting thing about quests for drops. you very often dont need to visit a person to 'hand-in' there is a letter box next to the quest boards, just right click it, and done.. (very sweet idea) The last quest on Adventures Island is from the guard who sends you over the bridge to talk with the cheif in the next town. My advise?.. IGNORE EVERYTHING - go straight to your quest giver, and complete it! dont worry. the quests in this town will send you ALL over town. You will know this place like the back of your hand before your done. ALL of the KILL quests given to you in this town are for mobs in the next 'zone' and they are nearly always mobs of the same level as the quest! Finding out which mobs to kill is fun (to me) the higher level the quests get.. the further out you go.. but dont be afraid to explore and keep a mental note of the different kind of mobs. If you have a quest to KILL 3 of one certain mob. the next quest is probably to get a DROP from that SAME MOB! - once you have done this with any given mob.. chances are, you wont EVER have to kill it again. so cross it off in your mind. If you REALLY get stuck.. here is a good tip. Ive noticed from much observation that the FIRST (two or three) symbols relate to the NAME of the mob who gives you the drop!... so goto http://www.ro2db.org/ and select the 'monsters' in KOREAN!.. find pictures of the mobs you suspect and try to match them up with the symbols ingame (need window mode ideally) after doing this several times I started to recognise symbols I had seen before to symbols I had not. So, when I saw a symbol I had not seen, I hunted mobs that I knew I had not had quests for yet. I know its hard, it just looks like random shapes.. but if you just look at the FIRST symbol! you dont need to know the rest. Anyway.. I hope this helps, you probably figured much of this out already.. or you may have just given up on the idea of doing quests. but I hope this convinces you to try otherwise. feel free to /whisper snowman ingame if you get stuck. I've completed (nearly) all quests upto level 6. so, from the level of the quest I have a good idea of what you need ;) Next I will talk about what to do with the rewards. |

snowman Posts count: 159 | OK, After last night I should warn you that there are SOME quests which are not quiet so easy to complete without being fluent in Korean :( Two Quests I got stuck on : one was for Three ( 0/1 ) .. but the korean symbols for all three were identical! and I killed every mob I could find to no avail! Abandonded. The other was for 5 ( 0 / 1 ) I received 5 bottles to go with this quest.. I did recognise one of the mob symbols.. so I clicked on one, and activated the bottle. The mob aggroed on me! - so I killed it. Nothing happened.. so I tried the same thing on another mob... it dropped something which completed ONE of the requirements. But.. no bottles left. and wasnt going to go hunting the entire map again. Abandoned. If a quest is taking too long, abandon it! |

Rama Posts count: 2 | I eventually figured it out, the last word on the bottle is always the same so its probably 'bottle' or something. you just have to use the bottles on the monsters, although they'll turn red they wont agro you. the 3 word bottle is for using on an Unripe Pukui the 1 word bottles are for: longest first word: cornutos other one: vadon the one that starts with the weird 2 same symbols like ** or something are chonchon so that one's for the chonchon fry the other one is 2 words and the only one missing, the Wicked Star and there you go! finished quest xD |

MoonshadeHero Posts count: 17 | yes, the order they appear in your inventory is the same as the order the monsters ar elsited in your quest objective... so the 1st bottle is for unripe pukui, the 2nd is for chonchon fry, and so on... the best way is to get the monsters in the order they are listed, so you won't use the wrong bottle on the wrong monster! |

darkxchaotic Posts count: 10 | Regarding the bottle quest, I've tried doing it three times. Each time I completed four out of five of the steps but when it came to the bottle for an Unripe Pukui, I would use it on the said monster but get no result. Ended up giving up on that quest... |
