snowman Posts count: 159 | I got those infuriating crashes, general protection errors and all sorts!!.. I did a few things, I dont exactly know which one of these stopped my crashes.. but they stopped (almost) completly. Im certain a GREAT DEAL of crashes are related to lag caused by over population on the server. Anyway.. Window mode in 1024x768! Of course you WILL be wanting to alt-tab, I crashed several times alt tabbing.. having window mode stops this, and I think this may have been the biggest thing to effect my reduction in crashes. Also, its nice to see the chat going on in the IRC channel :) Closing programs: Close down Anti-virus and as many applications as you can even MSN! (I know it hurts.. but RO2 crash hurts more) Press CNTRL - ALT - DEL, going into your 'processes' tab! Filter down via MEM USAGE. have a look at some things which are taking alot of mem usage, and close them!.. Also there will be many other things you can close.. I have IPOD helper stuff there, along with AVG programs (even tho I closed AVG down) and several other things which look suspicious. Close heavy websites with flash and Java! This site has a very nice webbased JAVA chat which links into IRC (internet relay chat) however it saves alot of resources (both network and memory) if you close these sites down and download an IRC client! (such as mIRC http://www.mirc.com/) hope these help! |

As a general guide, if under the 'user name' its has SYSTEM, or NETWORK SYSTEM or SERVICE or LOCAL SERVICE. dont close them unless you know what they are. |

Unless you have a seperate non-windows firewall which is causing a problem. I would urge you to get RO2 running WITH your filewall on.. without it all sorts of nasty creepy crawlies get onto your hardrive! Which reminds me.. Personally I keep my machine in pristine condition (not the case thats helluva filthy ;) ) regulalry 'spy-bot' clean all spyware and DE-FRAG! Doing this can of course only help matters. |

snowman Posts count: 159 | I spoke to one chap last night who said his friend still has problems with repeated crashes! - even though he did everything I suggested. It sounds to me like something more serious is going on if this is the case. Apart from the obvious, Update graphics card drivers, and tweak around with graphics settings here are a few more, but time consuming, things to try. First! - Its painfull, but the most obvious thing is to Un-install RO2, re-install, and re-down load patches. Crashing can damage files, so re-installing makes sure you eliminate this possability. Second - General 'health' of your hardrive! After a few months of (especially gaming) activity files on your drive get split up and scatterd all over the place! without going into any technical detail this should be cleaned up! so, you should "De-fragment" your drive. Before I tell you how to do this make sure you have AT LEAST 30% hardrive space free (I know it says you need only 15% but it lies) Go into your 'add/remove programs' in your control panel and also ununstall any programs or games you dont really use any more. De-fraggin takes a LONG time. so the more programs, and videos and music or anything else you can delete of the drive the better! Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter Lastly.. if your STILL having major problems you either have a severe windows problem or a severe hardware problem! Re-formatting and re-installing windows solves 95% problems ever! - But im not going to tell you how to do this. If you dont know. Get someone else to do it! Finally, Hardware. It maybe that your graphics card is just incompatible or over heating or nackard!.. With hardware problems the soloution is easy. Simply replace the item and see if it solves the problem. Again, Im not going to tell you how to do it unless you already know. But ask a technical friend or someone who knows more about testing another graphics card. |

SexyPsycho Posts count: 7 | I have tried turning off my anti-virus program and my windows firewall. I have no problem connection to the website "https://member.gravity.co.kr/member/agreement.asp` as long as long as I delete the `s` from `https` at the beginning of the web address. I have restarted my computer several times, and tried logging into the game over and over again for literally HOURS. I open the game using AppLocale AND I STILL CANNOT CONNECT TO THE LOGIN SERVER! if you have a solution to my extremely frustrating problem I would love to hear it. Thanks |
